Duties

International ServiceThe aim of International Service in Rotary is expressed in the fourth Avenue of Service; namely, to encourage and foster the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Freedom, justice, truth, sanctity of the pledged word, and respect for human rights are inherent in Rotary principles and are also vital to the maintenance of international peace and order and to human progress.

International Service Committees

  1. World Community Service (WCS) - occurs when a Rotary club in one country assists a Rotary Club in another country with a Community Service project.

  2. International Educational and Cultural exchange activities - include the Youth Exchange program, which facilitates short-term and school-year exchanges. Port-convention Home-stay gives Rotarians an inside look at countries close to RI Convention site. Rotary Friendship Exchange promotes reciprocal visits between Rotarians in different countries. Inter-country Committees link Rotarians in two countries for mutual benefit. Rotary Recreational and Vocational Fellowships foster friendship and service through common vocations or hobbies.

  3. Special International Observances and Events — include Rotary Foundation Month (November) and World Understanding Month (February) and occasional service emphases, for example, a United Nations-identified international year.

  4. International Meetings — present unique opportunities for fellowship and service "networking."
