SUNRISE ROTARY BOARD MINUTES

March, 2003

Meeting was called to order by President Julie Brunner, at 7:00 a.m. at Wild Huckleberry.

Attendance: Bryan had an extensive report on attendance. He has been tracking attendance for our club. We appreciate his volunteering to take care of this on-going problem.

He reported on International requirements, current Sunrise status, and considerations we need to discuss.

In 2001-2002 we had a net gain of 4

In 2002-2003 our net gain was 0.

Recommended:

That we encourage 90% attendance.

Honorary membership (those who participate who are not members, ie: spouses)

85 rule membership

take care of aging members, make place for them without attendance requirement.

Julie suggested we develop the "sum of 85" program. It was discussed by the board. Milt asked Kevin about budget consequences of the dues reduction this would create. We could reduce their dues 50% at this point.

Rod moved to exercise the rule of 85, with dues reduction of 50%, seconded by Sara. Bryan suggest it be optional, offered by request to the board. The motion passed.

Julie read a letter of resignation from Ernie. It was suggested we offer him the option of the "sum of 85".

The board supports the 90% attendance rule, and emphasizing membership.

It was suggested further than we offer honorary membership to those who resign because of age or inability to attend.

Julie read a letter of resignation from Willard Field who has become very involved in other areas of volunteerism. His resignation was reluctantly accepted.

Julie showed the board the award she has received to be presented to Mark Anderson, presentation to be May 25

Julie talked about applying for District Awards in:

Member sponsorship (perhaps Bill McDowell)

Publicity

Bulletin - we will submit ours

Projects - Submit Challenge scholarship, Sr. Dinner, Mexico project,

Make a difference Day, Our class, etc.

Sara will help her with submission for citations.

Kevin presented treasurers report.

 Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully,
