Minutes form the Board, Wednesday, August 14
Attending: Brad Hauck, Joanne Rosenthal, Rod Higley, Sara Urdahl, Kevin Love,
Bill McDowell, Kris Pomianek, Milt Herman
The minutes of July's meeting were reviewed and approved.
Kevin handed out the updated budget and the group discussed. Adjustments were made and requests for additional information to complete the budget were made to members of the board.
It was moved by Bill McDowell and seconded by Rod Higley that the balance of the polio plus commitment be paid. The original commitment was for $10,000 and there is a $3,877 balance remaining. This amount would be taken out of the general fund. Unanimously approved.
Bill McDowell presented information regarding a proposal from Wendell Cayton. The idea is for Sunrise Rotary to partner with Mission Ridge Foundation to host a ski race together on March 12. All proceeds would be evenly divided.
It was moved by Rod Higley and seconded by Kris Pomianek that a committee under Wendell Cayton's direction be formed to further explore this idea. Unanimously approved.
Comment: The group wanted to be sure that this event would not conflict with other projects especially bike expo.
Bill McDowell suggested that this might be a new member project
Milt introduced the "Stuff a Bus" campaign through the ESD. The campaign provides kids in the valley with books and supplies for school.
Bill McDowell moved and Sara Urdahl seconded that Sunrise Rotary send a check in the amount of $500 in support of this campaign. Unanimously approved.
Bill McDowell volunteered to put a large jar at our "check-in" table each week so that club members can put in spare change to help support the campaign and recover the $500 taken from the General Fund.
Milt reminded us all to take a look at the Rotary Kiosk at the Airport - It cost the club $39 to be included.
Park project - The club is awaiting the final presentation from the Rotary park committee.
Additional projects that might be considered: Centennial Park, area below WalMart to improve the look of the entrance into Wenatchee.
Bill McDowell will pursue the WalMart area with Allison Williams from the city and PJ is pursuing the Centennial Park needs.
Milt discussed the proposed Harley Raffle. He will continue to pursue this idea and bring it forth to the club.
The board received resignations from Craig Reese, Ron Snyder and Steve Theusen. It was moved by Kris Pomianek and seconded by Joanne Rosenthal to accept these resignations.
