Minutes of the November 2003 Board Meeting

Meeting was called to order by President Herman at 7:09 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the Red Lion.

Members present: Milt Herman, Kevin Love, Sara Urdahl, JoAnn Rosenthal, Brad Hauck, Carol Stueckle, Bill McDowell.

Director's Reports:

JoAnn reported that things in her department are going OK. Sergeant of Arms job is doing very well.

Sara Reported that new member orientation is going fine, they will be meeting with a new member this week.

JoAnn discussed the Christmas party, and ideas that have come forward, including adopting a family, a project for our Class, and we will probably settle on doing a Christmas party for the children at the Bruce Hotel.

We will possibly have a small membership party in a home.

Sara discussed nominations for the next year, asking who wants to "re-up" the position they now hold.

Bill McDowell was present to propose a new member. Tom Overcast was presented to the Board. It was moved, seconded, and passed to post Tom, and recommend acceptance into members.

Bill handed out a report regarding the ski race, Wendell is doing a great job with this.

Brad reported on the Senior Dinner plans. Gene Sharratt will be M.C. Joan is finding good entertainment (dance band is suggested)

Challenge Scholarship was discussed. Joan will present a program on this project.

Kevin presented the proposed budget. A balanced one is getting closer. It was suggested we add the proposed ski race into the budget. Sara mentioned the costs for presidents meetings such as PETS. Expenses have gone up considerably. We will still be working on making up a budget shortfall.

Exchange student will be here soon, we still need host family for later in the year.

A name was presented as a possible person to receive the Paul Harris Fellow award. Proposed is Patricia Smith at the Bruce Hotel. We will have a program and present the award. Rod will talk to Jack Davis about this. JoAnn will schedule Newspaper.

JoAnn discussed the Bike Ride - There is new competition with a Century Ride in Chelan, whose proponents wish to piggy-back on our ride, and share marketing, etc. It was moved, seconded, and passed that our President write a "non-compete" letter to the Chelan Rotary President.
